Theoverall gearing is just about the same but the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400X have different wheels and tyres. The result is that the Speed has a 15T sprocket and the Scram has a 14.

Triumph will not apparently supply a 16T because it is claimed/suggested that it would affect their Type Approval. Nonsense IMHO as they will supply and indeed dealers will fit a Triumph 15T sprocket on the Scrambler.

Until I got the 16T item tested and manufactured by Talon there was no UK based sprocket company prepared to supply the 16T...and I spoke to them all. Mine actually was made in California by Driven Racing for the KTM Duke 390, they would not export to a private individual, so my first one came from California, via a wholesaler in Berlin and then to a MotoX specialist in Coventry. Tortuous indeed.
