A 'friend' of mine once got an MoT by packing the fork dust caps with fresh tissues outside the MoT station to disguise leaky fork seals. Worked a treat he told me...
Bought a bike years ago that I found had old fashioned (absorbent) string in the dust caps, presumably for the same reason.
