That Skoda will certainly give good reliable service Dave. I need a bigger engine as i like to be more relaxed when i drive 400 miles in a day at times but in a few years, i would have a smaller engine.
Low insurance and tax is a great benefit of the small engine. My Brother has a Toyota Aygo for 10 years so far and very little has gone wrong. Just an LED side light failed at 3 years. 1 litre and also about 50 mpg and well equipped . In 2015, it was 8400 pounds brand new and it is used for longer trips as his 28 year old Alfa Romeo would be high risk now.
Next car change, i am going to try one of the mid size Mercedes coupes with 1,3 litre engine but still 160 bhp. Might be good and they do close to 50 mpg. Depends how they discount. The hybrid is excellent at the moment but expensive to buy compared with just a petrol engine. I await a shock at trade in time as i might lose 25k on it.
