Watneys was brewed at Mortlake so must have been the local ale in your youth. Suprised it didn't put you off all beer for life!
Or were you born closer to Youngs in Wandsworth? A disgusting pint that could really open up the bodily sluices at both ends. It tasted like the River Wandle looked = a close cousin to an open sewer.
