Ever been to Rhyl?

Unfortunately yes - and never again !

Went a couple of years ago for the Rhyl "Airshow" - fortunately the Premier Inn we had booked was outside Llandudno & not in Rhyl.

I don't recall it being that bad late '60s / early '70s. My aunt/uncle lived in Rhos-on-Sea (Colwyn Bay) for a few years & we used to holiday with them. Rhyl just seemed to be acres of static caravan parks now and the seafront was very tired, with pervasive smell of fried "food" everywhere.

Sad.
