Of course, we're out in a rural area so there's no "water company" anywhere about to bill us for anything.

But when towns spread out into the nearby countryside, and they run a waterline down your road, they can charge you a monthly amount as a connection fee even if you stay on your well and don't connect to it. I'd move before I'd pay something like that.....!
