Aiui, if the limit is 50 mph or less, lower (= cheaper) maintenance standards apply ...

Our Steamed Scottish Government is currently consulting on whether:-

. the single-carriageway UK NSL (National Speed Limit) 60 mph should become ESNSL (Except Scotland National Speed Limit)

. the single-carriageway SNSL (Scottish National Speed Limit) should become 50 mph;

. at the same time, the single-carriageway SNSL for vehicles over 7.5t raised to 50 mph.
