I would not recommend using a 4x4 as shelter when pulling out. I saw one beating the red lights on A14 junction here, just as a budding F1 driver was jumping the green lights his side.
The saloon car hid the 4x4 mid-ships & flipped it over. Anyone using it as cover would have been crushed.
