I'd never played tennis until playing with the kids on holiday one year & found I could serve and return holding the racket in either hand, which somewhat compensated for not being able to dance like the coach. In truth, I always preferred swimming, especially in the sea, with walking/hiking as a choice. It all went tits up with an allergic reaction causing a stroke and then double pneumonia nearly seeing me off and leaving reduced lung function. NHS recognises (it's in my medical notes) that the best exercise for me is low impact and riding the bike is the best of the best. They have tested me a couple of times to find that I do not pump adrenalin even after a brisk cross-country ride, probably because I never get on the limit? The Sprint will go eventually, as I can't maintain muscle strength and lung capacity to cope with pushing it around or picking it up if I were to drop it. I'll always admire your exploits on the track and how you cope with the odd over-enthusiastic rider - we see so much more as a spectator. Hope to catch up at more tracks this year. |
