I was talking about the Dorsoduro supermoto. Never seen one of those in the flesh, so to speak. Aprilia (and Piaggio in general) seem to treat their dealers very badly so there is a lot of "chrun" in the dealer network, making it difficult to see the bikes. Just appears to be a question of "how long" rather than "if" a dealer will get fed up of Piaggio's outrageous requirements & walk (or run ! ) away from them. Mrs B's Moto Guzzi supplier (claimed to be the biggest selling MG dealer in the country + also sold Aprilia and Piaggio) gave up on Piaggio due to unrealistic expectations on both sales targets and pricing. Another local(ish) dealer apologised for having little stock in the showroom due to a pricing dispute with Piaggio, who wanted them to pay more for the bikes than they were expected to sell for & make up the difference with servicing. The dealer I bought my Capo from didn't last much longer with them afterwards - he was not impressed with the use of debt factoring companies to chase up payments. The invoice for spares from the debt factors accompanied the parts, regardless of the price of the parts, for immediate payment - not something other brands did, apparently. Aprilia (or any Piaggio brand) would not be in contention if I look at if I change again, due largely to the uncertainties over dealer support given their recent history. Nigel B. |
