It's sort of like American hot rods, which I have never understood.

Someone will take an old car, usually a restorable one, and spend >$50k turning into his personal fever dream of a teenager's fantasy ...

And then assume that it is also someone ELSE'S fantasy and ask $100k for it. I guess it must work; people keep doing it.

If I inherited one from an unknown cousin, I'd consign it for sale without even going to see it.

So I know how you feel.
