How is it the American President's job to somehow guarantee performance of a UK subject's pension plan? Not doing much for US citizens pension plans or savings either, Lannis ? Apparently some nice opportunities to capitalise on these actions for those who subscribe to "Truth Social" though - a "Great time to make some money " with a "heads up" on the pausing of tariffs ? Trade imbalances are a fact of life - get over it. When you need something someone else can provide that you can't provide yourself & they cannot afford (or don't need) what you have, it happens. Madagascar isn't "Ripping off" the US ! The EU had offered 0% tariffs before this began & have re-iterated the offer since, but that isn't good enough - need to buy $350 Billion of oil & gas from the US now as well - so not all about trade imbalances ? US companies chose to outsource to make more money. US customers could have chosen not to support those that did, but chose the lower cost items instead. Not the rest of the World's fault. Not the rest of the World's fault the US chose to run up a $37 Trillion National Debt, or run a near $1 Triilion a year military. Re-finanacing around $9 Trillion of debt due this year is going to cost you more now due to the debt sell-off causing Bond prices higher - comfortable with that, when it need'nt have happened ? Not just the "nickel-and-dime plastic Chinese crap" you won't be buying from China - no more raw materials you can't produce yourselves. Doesn't seem much point in asking the Canadians to supply the "rare earths" either, seeing how threatening to annex them has not really gone down there at all well. Guess your farmers will be looking for new markets as well, given Chinese & Canadian imports are off the table, and stating outright that the export version of your new military aircraft will be "dumbed down" probably won't do much for sales - export arms production doesn't amount to many well paid jobs in the US after all, does it ? You seem to be seeing a bright future ahead at the end of all this, but the light at the end of the tunnel might just turn out to be a train heading towards you. Trade may resume at some point, but trust will take a lot longer. How the US chooses to dig its own grave is it's concern - the rest of us had no choice in having to participate the fall-out. From a motorcycle POV, that is something else that will now cost Americans more than before April 2nd. I hope you survive the fall out. Nigel B. |
