Check you have a healthy spark too, again to save your energy.
Make sure the engine hasn't wet sumped.
Also how old is the fuel? Maybe drain the carb & tank and refill with a little fresh fuel. And try a squirt of carb cleaner / EZ Start in to air filter / bell mouth to aid initial start up.
Have a fire extinguisher to hand just in case! I'd avoid a first start inside your garage or shed too. DAMHIKT.
