Age...

Went to a bike meet last night and ran into 3 blokes I had not seen for about 20 years.

We had a good old natter about past and present, made me realise just how we had all aged as we reminisced about the past.

One of the guys (younger than me) was telling us about his various metal implants / knee joints etc, but he is still riding.

In fact all 3 of us are stil riding, but it does make you realise just how mortal we all are and that for some of us there is a lot more sand below the timer than on top.

So keep on doing what you enjoy doing for as long as you can - rain forecast for this aft so out on the Him.

Who needs a signature anyway......

I am saving some bones for the Dartmoor ride at the next weekend. It is very uncomfortable to ride now but i do it still. Not something i will give up on easily. Having some good fun on old bikes still and next week i may get the Thunderbird out

I'm spending the day Moto Guzzi-ing. About a 100 mile ride into the Smoke, where the Guzzi dealer is having a Demo Ride Day with all the new Guzzis and Aprilias up for rides.

Then meet up around 12:30 at an Italian ristorante with the regular Third Saturday Guzzi crowd, then home on the back roads.

Looking forward to it just like I used to 50 years ago! Like you guys, I will do it while I can, and move on when Id rather do something else....

With the exception of Andy C, I've outlived most of the people I used to ride with/know through biking. Only one died in an accident, the rest have been cancer or heart issues.
My wife died some 18 months ago. Last year, I decided I might as well try to enjoy my remaining years, & bought another couple of bikes. Only to have (minor) medical issues which mean I don't feel confident riding anything larger than the ANF125, & even that some days is out of the question.
Hopefully physio sessions will slow down the Osteoarthritis & mean I can carry on biking for a few years.

As I`ve said before; you know it`s time to give up riding when you start falling off your bike when it`s not moving.

I thought I would be able to ride again .
Trouble is balance problems yes I need a stick for that also right knee had it .. not mutch help
Now after getting grit in the eye and going to the hospital they have found loads wrong with both eyes and not looking good obviously cataracts that can be removed but damage to both retinas one buckled the other becoming detached plus the onset of Glaucoma so definitely not looking good.... Specsavers didn't notice it

I'm still hoping the bikes insured but hasn't been on the road for four years ...obviously there are other problems and have ti carry medication with me at all times but can't grumble had almost 70 years of riding bikes

I'm 85, 86 soon, and still riding, started in '55. Trouble this modern petrol definitely makes the bikes much heavier, as I have trouble moving them around the garage. Think we should start a petition to be able to get light-weight fuel, especially for the older riders.

So 2024-1944=18. So you admit that you are no longer 17.

We had our own Fred Marsh who was a racer and Guzzi dealer in New England for a long time.... Used to come into the shop every day and ride his 50cc bike around the parking lot at age 102... Always had a big grin on his face when he was on the bike!

Afraid it is - I live about 40 miles south of Birmingham, & he was often at vintage/veteran events. Often shown riding to events on local TV, even when 100.
