Crazy

I need to fill two of my bikes up so have to put two large empty cans in my diesel van drive to the garage to get fuel then get home and transfer the petrol by funnel into my bikes...why. Because otherwise it would cost me £25 in ulez charge to ride both bike half a mile down the road to the garage!!! Bloody crazy.

time to move then? Don't say its because you are a life long Londoner,So am I with traced roots back to 1730 Bermondsey,+East end family. That London does not exist anymore,nearly 50 years since I left, went back for a funeral in 2006,never going back.

Like nek, my family, both parents, go way back in London, 1800's. Late Mum & Aunt survived the Blitz, aunt was an ARP warden. It was a shitehole even when I last lived there, 1970's.

I know what your saying nek and a lot on here have told me to get out. I'm one of the lucky ones that I grew up in South London Mortlake and then Barnes. I now only live 7 miles away so yes I am a life long Londoner and the rubbish hasn't reached my area can still get to my old pubs in 20 minutes and also visit my family grave which I care for so yes I have great memories of here. It would be hard to leave at my age so just have to hope that where I live stays safe. Yes the ulez charge is a bloody pain and I live in hope it will end one day if ever common sense happens, but I think I am just living in a dream.

Guess I count myself lucky living in a fairly rural area.

I have always lived within about a 15 mile radius of where I am now, and currently only about 5 miles where from generations of my family lived back as far as the 1500's.

The village that they all lived in has some of the oldest parish records in the country so I am lucky I can look back so far.

Who needs a signature anyway......

Daft as no doubt just as much 'pollution' is generated as if you rode the bikes there, but can't you delay filling 'em up at the garage until you next go out on them?

In the scheme of things and the comfort of life are Pubs really so important to you? Lots of pubs outside London if you can't live without beer,and if you can't,you maybe have a problem?

Moving out will add years to your life, it has mine I had chest problems but clean air and removal of stress is theraputic.
Also I stopped drinking beer,can't stand the stuff now.

I am much more English by birth and heritage than you'll ever be Lannis old chap and proud of it but contary to what American TV shows we don't send all our time swilling beer while singing knees up muvver brown and at present prices I can't any way, additionally the British pub is dieing at a rate of knots.My large village once had 12 pubs, now has 3. 8£ a pint for Guiness in the posher ones, under a quid in the co-op.
Jerry, not critcising what you drink, back in my more yobbish days the drink among bikers was stout and cider, for the colonials here thats Guiness and cider in the same glass, very sweet and gives you a hangover only the young survive.

Well you learn something every day. So I enjoy beer so I must have a problem, blimey I sure have had a problem for a long time and answer to that question are pubs important to me? yes they are. I have always enjoyed a visit to a pub and socialising with other people. Maybe after 60 years of this bad habit I should change. And I thought riding and racing motorcycles was dangerous

I used to enjoy visting the pubs, now most of my locals are long gone - converted into housing or just shut up shop.

Those that remain have no atmoshpere, still go to the pub but very rarely now.

ONe of our three pubs has a regular poetry evening and other rustic entertainment I am sure you'd enjoy.

I would like to have Jerry's problem.
Yesterday was my first pub visit for quite some time, sadly no more wine, spirit or beer for me now thanks to the enforced daily consumption of pharmaceuticals.

Move out Jerry brown North so that you can still travel to your race meetings . Though not a drinker the pubs are just as good in the country .
Hounslow whare I'm originally frome had over fifteen pubs in the highstret alone only one left now ..

Where I lived in South London there were at least six pubs within walking distance. Now none!

i'm a pub person too. many people use my local as a social thing. one old guy..ex Londoner,funnily enough, 90 years old and in the pub every single night! i don't touch alcohol at home so meet up with friends and have a few beers. pubs..use them or lose them.

When I left the UK, my local shut down within 18 months. Block of flats now, named after it. Some people still say if I was still living round there, it would still be in profit! Adding another still.
