One of the best rides of 2024

Just been out on the Him for nearly 50 miles.

Although very hot, there is a lovely cooling breeze, with the vents open on my jacket no fear of overheating.

Would have liked to have taken the Speedmaster but I am currently in the process of changing handlebars.

After a 40 odd mile ride last week with the OE "Beachbars" my wrists were excruciatingly painful for nearly 2 days.

The beachbars mean that you grip the bars a bit like an old fashioned pushbike so your wrists are at an odd angle. And if you give it any beans you really have to hold on tight to the bars.

A lot of people report aching wrists after riding with the Beachbars - straight pair will be fitted when they eventually arrive.

One amusing thing on my ride, I came up behind one of those 40MPH everywhere drivers, had to follow them for quite some distance due to oncomming traffic, but 30 limit - constant 40, 50 and 60 a constant 40.

I was glad to pass him, I just wonder why they do it.

Who needs a signature anyway......

Quite astonishing, aren't they? I had one going to Dunwich last week. 25 mph in the nationals through bends, but 40 through the villages with a straight road.

As the osteoarthritis decided to have a day off, took the '98 ZX-9R out for 'exercise' before weather got too hot and the roads busy. FUN!
Back late morning, thought as I was on a roll, would do final checks on the 2000 FI Blackbird before the MoT Tuesday. Ah, the rear light (LED item fitted by PO) has stopped working. Brake light does, but not the r/light. Rattle the connector block around & spray with contact cleaner. Ok, it works.
Decide to start it up just to make sure all's working with the engine running. What is this flashing red light?
Look on the OC site, something to do with the fuel injection. count the number & length of the flashes to find the problem...
Turned it off & back on again, problem has gone away - for now.

Could be where it has not had any "excercise" for a while.

After the last few days working on the bike, my right hand suddenly became very arthritic so nothing done today at all. It is now a bit better so carry on again Monday. Nearly finished. Just have to fit a different fuel tank due to a pinhole leak and the seat plus clearing up all the tools i dropped on the floor !
