Insurance Moan - Again!

Honest, this'll be the last moan from me on bike insurance this year. Have 3 road legal bikes, insured separately.
The next one coming up for renewal, in September, is the 2005 Honda Innova ANF125. Had it a decade, been with Devitt for several years. No claims, no problems.
Yesterday a letter from them 'We are unable to quote on this occasion. But we have contacted our underwriters & can offer you a policy for £120.' This is double what I have been paying. And only a tenner less than I am paying for the Group 16 Kawasaki ZX-9R, which is a little quicker.
Onto a comparison site. There's one from, guess who? Devitt. £84.
And another from Swinton, £60.

I expect the underwriter sees the 125 as a high risk learner bike. This is what my boy found when he was just 20, he could insure a 4.2 Jaguar XJ6 for the same price as a Ford Fiesta. Young Grandson just sold his Fiesta to get a BMW 3 series as insurance cost less.

Makes you wonder if they check the forms. Would have thought it is computer checked. Passed my test in the '70's. Been insured with Devitt for several years, as mentioned.
When I initially bought the 2005 125 (2014?) it was MORE to insure than my Ninja 9 - that was when scooter thefts first became a problem.

Many insurers are obsessed with getting new accounts, and so they offer low prices. If the on line offers are ad you say then simply take out a new policy . Be what is known as an insurance tart.

Other opinions may be available but this one is always correct.

Most insurers i deal with keep asking about immobilisers. I tell them that when the bike is out of the garage, i am sitting on it until i get back home. My bikes will never get stolen so need no security apart from what is in the garage.
This year i paid near £400 for 4 bikes. It might be that i am now 70 and considered a higher risk.

I'm used to changing insurers yearly with the 900/1100, both are group 16.
Can't see the logic of the 125 cover nearly doubling, when I've been with the same company for several years, or being offered a lower rate from the same company online.

I always get a little depressed every year when insurnace is due - all the time you have to spend using compasrison websites, or even on the phone.

This year was pretty good, CN did both the Speedmaster and Himalayan at a good rate, the AA who we have all our cars with reduced all 3 premiums to an average £15 more than last year (done by a very quick and efficient phone call).

So called Multi car policies are a con, the cost of insuring all 3 was ridiculous.

Have the KH insurance to do, best quote including recovery (small print checked) is £65, but forget who that was with as not checked the quotes for a while. KH is currently with someone called "Grove Dean" who have a very poor reputation - they also wanted £120 to renew this year.

Renewed the house insurance yesterday, again a phone call to the Halifax reduced the renewal premium by just over £40 making this years premium £19 more than last year.

All done / dusted for another year, apart from the KH.

Who needs a signature anyway......

Andy, i found LV to be low cost on the house and contents at about £130 this year. Not an old for new or lost belongings etc but basic cover against a major occurrence like burglary of fire

Probably just because you've been with the same company for several years, they hope you'll just renew without checking, as many apparently still do.

Received my Home insurance renewal today, has gone up £70 to just over £400. Broker says prices have risen yet again, next best quote would be £500. Sign of the times more to follow next year I expect when Starmers 'painful' budget kicks in.
