Exeter parking

The Council have just sold the major city centre car park to cover a debt after the collapse of a business they owned.
You need a smart phone to pay the private company and also a token to raise the barrier.
That means i find another car park or park on yellow lines.
I have not needed to enter the City for many years now as not working there now.
I did used to park in the carpark free using a blue badge but private companies offer no concession. I am not likely to buy a smart phone now so Exeter is virtually a no go. John Lewis is maybe the only place i visit and they do have a free car park.
I wonder if all car parks will be sold off all over the Country ?

It's not just car parks that are being sold off here in Brum, it's pretty much everything the bankrupt city council own. Like you though, now I'm retired I have no reason at all to drive into the city. On the rare occasions I do go in, I get the train which is a lot cheaper than parking.

You don't have to be crazy to post here, but it helps....

Maz uses the park and ride Sowerton so free parking and a bus pass.
Yesterday she was parked in the disabled at RD&E as she visited me ..then brought me home..

Dave, i trust you or Maz have registered your blue badge with RD and E. They give you a pass for 6 months. Just take the badge to reception. Hope you are feeling good on the outside now.

The Hospital has taken over now I'm under a new NHS scheme I'm monitored at home and have regular phone calls every day the ticker is in a bit of a state so another waiting list to have heart surgery

Hospital at home is a good service Dave. Often thew same person sees you most days. I hope the wait is short for the surgery. Most of the heart surgery is at Derriford for this area.

A very long wait for the heart one also waiting for my eye one they are both local anaesthetic as I can't cope with general..there so mutch gone wrong ..Good news is the Skoda Maz likes but switched of all the tech rubbish and it now has a spare wheel instead of a phone number..

Same here, dont mind car parks where you can pay by card, but apps and all at twoddle......

TBH we are all being forced down that route where you have to pay by phone dont think we will have any option in the future.

Who needs a signature anyway......

I am fortunate i have had a blue badge since 1979 so i can park on double yellows or residents only spaces plus all day on any 30 minute parking. I try to park properly but sometimes there is nowhere to park in a spot but if its all by phone, i will be parked on double yellows outside the car park entrance.
The hospital became difficult with barriers and phones to operate it but it all broke down 2 years ago and still not working, the barriers stay up but they take a picture of the cars. You still pay by phone but my registration is marked exempt by the hospital.

We used the disabled Bays by the front entrance as plenty of room to get the doors open.

Parking all day at The Prince Charles and Saint Vincent`s hospitals is $13. They are joined together, and it`s a short walk from the multi-story car park to either of them.

Everywhere we parked in Australia was free when out there the only charge was a small carpark for the great barrier reef the Hospital in Townsville was free nd undercover from the sun . But was over twenty years ago..
