Elecric and Hybrid Cars

It is being reported today that Nissan are in very deep s**t and suggesting that they are contemplating closing their Sunderland plant, as part of a possible five plants to be closed and many thousands of redundancies, So it is not merely motorcycle manufacturers that are feeling the pain.

Other opinions may be available but this one is always correct.

Mike I think part of the blame has to be with the clowns running this country and threatening the car factories with huge fines for not producing electric cars that know body wants.

The basic lie that rots everything about EVs is that human activity will destroy the earth, and that EVs are part of the solution.

Normal people got roped into the lie and the bogus solutions because they got panicky and because they don't understand basic physics.

Globalists (the EU, WEF, UN) knew it was a lie, but pushed it because they saw a path to power by herding panicky sheep.

Financiers and automotive CEOs knew it was a lie, but they saw billions in government subsidies, AND because they know how to make money for themselves in both rising and falling demand....

And unrealistic timesacles for the move to EVs.

How many years did it take the IC engine to really develop?

No one can expect EVs to become a "solution" in just a couple of decades.

The "solution" needs to be rational and practical, and that looks like Hybrids until battery technology and charging infrastructure are sorted.

It's all turning into a mess, and a costly one at that.

Who needs a signature anyway......

I agree with all that.

The problem is that a fake panic over "climate change" was generated, which people with control and financial goals in mind used to push stupid deadlines, and useless subsidies.

And now, regular working people who thought they had a secure factory job are watching their employment go down the tubes as factories that were built on the basis of lies and fantasies, and NOT actual science nor consumer demand, are abandoned ....

It's a shame, but it's happening.

Nissan Worldwide have been laying off staff. I looked at a new Qashqai and instead of a centre armrest, it had 2 cupholders so i told the salesman why i could not buy one.
Build quality of the Sunderland lot is not too good either so i doubt i would buy another.
Not sure who thought up the idea of running a petrol engine to work a generator and connect that to an electric motor. Seems too complex with 3 power sources
So, Vauxhall vans have gone, Nissan cars, KTM, Jaguar, and looking at the car farms we have springing up all over Exeter, most other makes are on borrowed time. Audi are quite lucky as they are mostly petrol now and not subject to Britains rule of having to have a percentage of EVs to engine cars.
Mercedes have tried to lower emissions by building large cars with 1300cc engines
Many makers are using a similar 1500 engine used by many makes which is frugal.
A few years ago i predicted that railway scheme would fail and it did and was half built. Next prediction is the lithium battery plant for Bridgwater will not happen at all.
Looks like we are heading for another recession but that will not affect me much, i just find my holidays get large price cuts and 2 weeks in the Caribbean for 2 is under £3000 on a ship. Last year it was quite a lot more. Locally, houses are getting difficult to sell but that benefitted my Grandchildren as the building society now wants to give them a mortgage so they can keep money moving.
2 will be moving to Woodbury in a few weeks.
Our various family businesses are still very busy in the house modernizations, plumbing and electrical and the garage is busy taking on a lot of welding from other larger garages.
Half of Exmouth housing is not mortgageable now due to the building societies deeming them in a flood plain hence buying in Woodbury is popular right now.
Anyone who does buy an EV will have a car worth nothing within 5 years and thats a big hit when they cost over 40k. Lots of Nissan Leafs are now going for scrap as a battery cost more than the 5 year old car is worth. Insurance for them can be double that of a petrol car
We are all doomed !

The answer is to keep old low value ICE engined cars going for as long as possible.

The Mercedes i recently sold was OK to drive in ULEZ zones but road tax went up to near 500 pounds. Range Rover V8 cars that are equipped with a small 48 Volt battery and not able to drive using its power at all, are now exempt from ULEZ charge. There are many of these 48 volt cars in use now with a petrol engine and that allows them to enter Londonistan free.

Hope whoever that's moving to Woodbury is not buying my neighbours house..because it's been refurbished by a so called Master builder he built an extra garage so two garages that are fake it's a large extension to the house to look like double garages NO planning permission..
Whe he moved in he removed the porch that ran along the front of the house reason it cut the light into the kitchen.. they never use the kitchen never seen them in there.. removing the porch has revealed breez blocks so they need removing and an RSJ inserted as its water ingress ... what has he done he has painted dummy bricks on the breez blocks..
The house is being sold with large parking area.. Not true as I own that land and part of the drive into the three house estate though there is an agreement that we Al cover damage to the driveways
So all is not what it seems put out by the estate agents..

If I was you Dave I would let the Estate agent know of your concerns about the land and drive no use leaving it until someone purchases it. It may save you a lot of money in legal costs in the long run.

Its a house in New Way Woodbury Salterton Dave. Solid brick built former Council house with large gardens so cars can now be parked on the front area once its concreted. These 2 buying are just 22 years old twins. They like to work together and live together

Only trouble with Woodbury Salterton it gets cut off with heavy downpours thepub was good when I last went there but that was fifteen years ago and has good school..
There is a chance of 75 houses being built opposite me right down to a river Southwest Water can't work out the sewage at the moment .. then a further load of Affordable whatever that means being built at globe hill and behind the scrappy..
People say to me Oh you live in Woodbury you must be rich..Not now you wouldn't believe what the locals put on Facebook like Can Anyone look after my Dog / Cat /even Sone or daughter while I'm at work.. Dogs go missing nearly every day.. or Bank card mobile phones car keys etc you just can't believe it I made the mistake of moving here and too old to worry now when I pop my clogs Maz will be off the house and land will make a bit of money enough for three to four properties..

Petrol Electric not a new idea

Tilling Stevens had petrol electric buses and lorries running in 1923 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tilling-Stevens but back then gearboxes were very crude and difficult to use, the idea of fitting a generator to a petrol engine which in turn drove an electric motor solved the problem and made the vehicles easier to drive. But it was a very inefficient system with much greater losses in efficiency that a mechanical drive. Modern hybrids therefore are not that cutting edge, but with modern control gear and a battery are a bit more efficient.

Well. tonights news is that VW germany workers are striking in protest against layoffs. First time in 80+ years.
A silly notion struck me looking at lines of unsold new cars, maybe the UK makers should cooperate and give the bloody things away for free or a nominal sum, flood the market, That would mess up cheap chinese imports. Then again I don,t understand why the chinese are allowed to flood our home market.

More and more I am beinning to agree with Lanniss'
out look on life.

There was a post on a car bulletin board from a guy who was selling his Tesla because the founder Musk is based on fascism and white supremacy; he's buying a VW EV instead.

I can't wait for him to find out who founded Volkswagen ....

Maybe not. No matter how hard they try to keep the Chinese people in the dark, their communist masters can't hide forever the fact that not everyone in the world lives in a slave empire .... The VW I.D range has become very troublesome. Not a patch on a Tesla. There are now 3 EV cars in my road but none of the houses can charge them up. All company cars given to employees so they charge at their workplace in Exeter. They get replaced every 6 Months with another brand new one. I wonder how much is lost on them. ? The drivers are just happy to have a free car but they also have private cars which happen to be diesel

They are probably fleet cars supplied on a lease contract so won't lose anything. In between jobs I worked for Avis delivering cars. We had one Company in our area that had ten brand new Vauxhall Cavaliers every six months. We used to deliver the new ones, pick up the old ones and take them to a depot at Stanstead Airport where the dealers used to bid for them. Vauxhall didn't allow the vehicles to be used for greater than 10,000 miles or ,I believe, Avis got charged heavily per mile over.

Yes change in China generally comes from within,which is why the slave masters are so scared of them. Despite the hype and propaganda China is still a country of rural poverty.
