I'm home

Hi gang, firstly I would like to thank all that sent me get well and mend soon messages it really helps. At least now I am home but far from fit. Still not sure what happened but eye witness told me bike stepped oud and threw me up in the are and I bounced down the circuit. Seems my new tyres just didn't grip and I sure wasn't going fast. I have had many years on a race track and know how to bed tyres in. All I remember is waking up in the medical centre then being rushed to Coventry hospital for body scan. results not good 6 broken ribs broken shoulder blade and hand plus a punctured lung. Body bruised all over so seems I made a good job of wrecking myself. bike badly broken with engine cover damage plus. cant see me getting back for a while so have to mend me first then start on the bike hoping to find no more big problems. Early days yet and I'm really struggling to sleep. At least my son got my van and bike back from Mallory so everything home now. My plan is to try and get back in May or June but think it's going to be a long slog. w ill update later.

Very glad you're back home......and back posting on here contributing your wisdom & humour.

Take it easy recovering. Don't try to rush it or you may end up making things worse. The human body takes as long to heal as is necessary. There's no short cuts!

Another glad you're back msg. Every sympathy with broken ribs - it's a toss up between that & gout for the worse pain I've ever had. Bugger to try & sleep with either.

Stay lucky, and you have been, look after yourself and think of your dependents, reminds me of Bob Keeler (ex Norton works rider) who had a similar incident, not an accident at Blandford, but also broke both arms jaw and teeth, taking food via a straw for some time, he never raced again under his own name, and then never again, concentrating on business that he did very well with, survived till hie mid 80s, so stay lucky and recognise it.

old rockers are hard, but don't try to rush either fixing bike or getting back on one. At your[and my age] it takes time. You may well have a hard decision to make.

Good to hear that you are back home, your off certainly did you a lot of damage.

I admire your optimism and tenacity to want to get back in May or June.

Just dont over do things or try and get back too soon.

Struggling to sleep - try watching football or F1

Hi Jerry, glad you are back home again, tried to send sympathy message at time of your spill, but had been locked out of IKBA for some reason known only to the gremlins up above. Going to be a no-show at the Fleet Lions this year for you I expect.

That'll be great, but not if your body isn't quite up to it. Got another 5 weeks to get better, hopefully to lose the bruises as well!
