I was on vacation last week when the original DP post was made and I think it is now down the page far enough for me to start a new one.

I had the good fortune to meet a double Grammy winning Nashville musician who has played and knows everyone. He and Marty Stuart played in a band when they were very young teens, he toured with Glen Campbell for 12 years, recorded with Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Emmylou Harris, James Taylor and many, many others.

I asked him if he knew Dolly. He pulled out his phone and showed me a pic of them together. He had recorded with her. I asked what she was like and he said, "If you like what you see in public, she's all that and more in private". He said she would light up a room when she entered.

He and some musicians were recording at her house. The session lasted into the wee hours of the morning. When they were done, they all went to the kitchen and Dolly made them breakfast from scratch.

I'm sure you have read/heard stories of her philanthropy and thought you might like to hear a "behind the scenes" story.

Thanks for that always a fan

Always nice to know that someone that comes across so nice on screen is the same in ordinary life. Thanks Martin.

Thanks for that Martin.

Heard a few stories about her philanthropy.

I have not heard anyone say a bad word about her.

Me neither.

I think that this is the first time ever that a recording star's death has received a "Flags at Half Mast" order from the executive....

Nobody disagrees with that ....👍

I think a lot of today's "celebrities" could learn a lot from Dolly.

Couldn’t we all. People like that do not come along very often. A very unique person, go in peace Dolly. All we get left with is Basta**s like Putin sadly.

That rings so familiar. There's a youtube video of her singing in a pub in Ireland with a local guitarist. He is good himself & she responds so professionally to make it a top level joint performance. Pure Magic.
As she once said in an interview, she didn't mind the "Dumb Blonde" sneers, because "I'm not dumb and I'm not blonde either."

She also said, "It takes a lot of money to look this cheap!"

Brilliant!
