I’m not going to argue strikes and balls with an umpire. But, a lot of umpires only care about where the ball lands. The strike zone is Between the batter’s back shoulder and the front knee. just because a ball lands 5” behind a plate, doesn’t make it a strike if it crosses above the batters back shoulder.
