Bill - You are confusing rubber motor mount failures with the motor mount support brackets (saddles). Yes, there was a recall on motor mounts which had a short term fix via recall bulletin to install a cable around the upper control arm shaft and secure it to a bracket mounted to the exhaust manifold.
Later, the motor mount was redesigned with an interlocking tab on the bottom which prevented the rubber from separating completely.
