I couldn't do that to a NOS grille,but I could follow thru and make the grille and headlite doors SS427, again, minus the SS emblem. When I worked at Chevrolet, I broke my grille hitting a snow drift once (Yep, I had to drive it in the winter). The body shop ordered in a new grille, which was a Caprice grille, and painted the black. I was told you couldn't get an actual factory painted grille, this was the GM body shop SS replacement path.I think this was 1977. This was a Chevrolet dealership body shop, I assume it was true, at least, that's how the shop got me a replacement when I broke mine. Actually, it looked better than my original.
