69 grill and bumpers

Picture of lower valance panel and how it came from the factory. I painted it argent with the little dip. It sets off the front and gives it depth. Bumpers installed with new bolts and the lights repaired and painted. NICK L72

Is it me or does the front SS emblem need to be moved up? I think it is supposed to straddle the middle horizontal bar.

Hey Sluggo. I had taken the grille out to install the bumper. It is loose, until I install the engine and radiator. I am surprised that You didn't comment on the right low beam headlight not being an AC. Just Kidding! A lot of work yet. NICK L72

Ya know Nick, it's great to see your car coming together. Seeing your front end has me thinking about sticking a blacked out grill in my Biscayne, minus the emblem of course, just to see how it looks. Always loved the SS grille. I have a NOS Caprice grille with the stainless bars, and a set of NOS headlight doors. I dont know why I'm saving them, may as well paint them.

Paint it all black. That way it will not be like the SS grille and it will stand out. I had to paint mine like the original. A lot of taping and it will look sharp. NICK L72

I couldn't do that to a NOS grille,but I could follow thru and make the grille and headlite doors SS427, again, minus the SS emblem. When I worked at Chevrolet, I broke my grille hitting a snow drift once (Yep, I had to drive it in the winter). The body shop ordered in a new grille, which was a Caprice grille, and painted the black. I was told you couldn't get an actual factory painted grille, this was the GM body shop SS replacement path.I think this was 1977. This was a Chevrolet dealership body shop, I assume it was true, at least, that's how the shop got me a replacement when I broke mine. Actually, it looked better than my original.

I never had to replace Mine, thank God. You could order new SS grills until they ran out of stock. The original gills were painted by a robot, that is why a lot of spots were missed. The Caprice grill is argent with stainless bars. The headlight doors were argent with black highlights. NICK L72

I'm quite sure finding any NOS grilles would be very hard indeed. Didn't take much break em. The grille and lamp doors on my Biscayne are off a real nice local 4 door Bel Air parts car, front end was immaculate, mainly driven in town it's entire life,always garaged.

Dam Nick,, that car looks great. Love the argent lower valance highlighting.
