I'd like to find a good home for this car.

I’ve seen sales in the $100,000 area for cars like this. I finally decided to price it at $85,000, since it still needs finishing. I’m certainly open to offers. All the hard stuff is done though, as noted by Jon
I’ll try to get some pictures up soon.Attached a couple taken when i first purchased it.

I've owned this car since the mid 80’s, was an original numbers correct car with about 70,000 miles, good running, cracked lacquer paint etc.
I drove this car as is for several years, while acquiring parts for the resto. Great car to drive.
Started a full resto a few years back. This car was not rusty, had door dings, one slight dent on a rear quarter. Did weld in an area next to a rear wheel well. The metal on this car was in amazingly good condition.

Paint and body came out beautiful. Entire drive train overhauled.

67 factory 427 car red exterior with white top and black interior, as listed on the original factory build sheet, which I have.
Motor, transmission, rear end are numbers correct.
Replaced all trim with NOS. parts. Re chromed bumpers and other misc. parts at AIH in Dubuque.
NOS mufflers and resonator tail pipes.

Options include --
Tach and gauges
AC
Power windows
tinted glass
Bucket seats
Auto trans
optional Wood steering wheel
AM FM 8 track
Factory air shocks
Power steering
Factory disc brakes with rally wheels

All listed on the build sheet. Also have protecto plate.
I've tried to do everything correct on this restoration.
Also have many photos of the restoration process.

Hi folks ,

New to the board, This is my car for sale, Haven't checked all the messages here yet, but wanted to make myself available for questions. The car is legit. My friend whose been handling the resto is retiring from his main job, and selling his shop.
He'll probably open another shop eventually , but that's the main reason the car is up for sale.

someone was emailing my craigslist account saying the car is a fake, and the ad got flagged for removal

trust me , I wouldn't have invested the amount of $$$ that I have in this car if i doubted the authenticity. Original hood on the car had some rust around the insert, so gladly bought an NOS hood from JonK as I wanted no long term issues, with a car I intended to keep. along with NOS insert. Lots of new NOS trim, Lot's rechromed, etc
.and still have the original parts.

Maybe you guys have ideas on where to advertise

Hi Greg, I'm a newbie on here and I was wondering if you still have the old hood or insert and be willing to sell? Probably long gone but had to ask. I'm resurrecting a true 67SS to look similar to the Z24 because I like the bigger SS insert's in the center grill and trunk.

Still have the old hood and insert. and willing to sell, Have the original trunk emblem as well. Convertible trunk emblem is longer than the hardtop , due to difference in trunk lids. Have to think about price.
I'm assuming that the buyer for the car won't want those parts, but I'd like to find a good home for the car before selling some of the extra parts. Is there a way to private message here? if so, send me your contact info and we can discuss.

I'll be posting some more info on the car shortly.

That's a very nice looking hood. How much are you thinking for it with the insert? Also interested in a trunk SS emblem(I didn't know there were two different ones,maybe pics of the two? Thanks Happy Easter

Sorry, for the slow response. will try to get pics of these up soon . Would like to sell the car before selling parts. I'm thinking the replaced spare parts should help verify the cars authenticity to prospective buyers.

The rockers will probably be used on another car. An ss hardtop 396 that was my first car. I will have some ss427 specific items, along with several several parts cars, If I don't need it for my hardtop, willing to sell... Have the following parts cars -
67 impala wagon, no motor or trans, rusty frame, but still has 12 bolt posi rear end, some usable trim , etc,

well optioned 67 caprice 4 door , confortron, tilt wheel 327cu in , 400 turbo, 12 bolt posi,

67 impala 4 door, pretty well picked over

I kept a near perfect interior from a 67 bel air 4 door. parchment, cloth inserts , with near mint door panels, if some needs it let me know.

I'm pretty backed up with work, so I'll need some lead time for bigger items , the bel air interior is already removed, ready to load, hard to ship though.

Interesting that you first car was a 1967 Impala SS w/396. I also have one I bought 30 years ago. I'm about to start a restoration on it.
I'd like to hear details about you car (in a different thread as to not get confused with your SS427). Are you going to restore it?

Vin and cowl tag info (and engine/trans type if known). This is a separate list I do in addition to the SS427 registry. I still keep all info private, not shared and I enter anything fullsize 1964-1970.

This is certainly the real deal. I've known the car and the owner on a personal level for many years.
Car was brought to the Midwest out of Florida; a Doraville built car.
Original Disc brakes were rebuilt, and like he says, there are many NOS parts. Even the 8 track has an NOS face plate! Wood wheel is gorgeous. I thought it was odd this car does not have a tilt wheel, or cruise for that matter.
Ron Mroz has seen this car and has been advising on the restoration of this car. Jon K. and Bill VP from this board have supplied many NOS parts.
I thought it would be completed by now, as the 1967's will be featured at the NIA convention this year in Spearfish.

Looks to be a very,very nice car. While looking at the pictures of the engine compartment I have one question.
It looks to me the trim tag is missing in one of those pictures if I'm looking in the correct spot? It looks like there are two holes where the cowl tag goes

I understand the car was going under a complete restoration but???

Salty ? Have you restored a car lately ? Especially a 67 SS427 Convert . I know of two that cost over $200,000.00 to finish Snarfy , not picking on you, but this seller is loosing money. I've seen the car , its gorgeous ! Hes just loosing interest.

Yes Jon, salty. Yes to restoring a car(actually a truck) lately. In watching cars for sale on this site, I don't recall any except Ivan's that had a price tag that high. And those are finished cars. Regarding the 2 that cost over $200K to finish, just because someone spends that kind of money restoring a vehicle doesn't make it worth that amount or more - it's been proven thousands of times at auctions, sales, etc. The car or any car is worth what the next buyer pays for it. If I see that it sells for his $85K or close to it, I'll say I was wrong. In the meantime, I think it's salty.

I see your point 100% , and one of those cars took a big loss but still brought 100K. This car has an impressive list OF NOS including a hood and insert , rockers trunk molding etc. At 85,000 the price is right on for a fresh car.Plus all the hard work and expense is done, JMO...Trucks are still fairly cheap to do , thats why Im more into them. The cars got too "Salty" !

I still feel investor's could do well with this car

Beautiful car and obviously not cheap to restore. But I see a couple of red flags. Ad says the metal was in amazingly good condition with just a few dents and a small patch needed before resto. If that's the case- why would he need to buy NOS hood and insert and trunk moulding?And why remove the trim tag? Makes me wonder. Just saying. I'm not a buyer for the car and it's none of my business really, but how does anyone know it's "legit"?

I would not remove the cowl tag for any reason and in fact I taped it off to keep the original Janesville paint scheme around it on mine BUT..
Since he has the build sheet I think he is OK. I would be satisfied that it is legit by matching up the hidden partial VIN on the cowl with the build sheet and the VIN on the door (I'm assuming that was not removed.
The cowl tag data can be verified by the build sheet.
Again I think it is a bad practice to remove the cowl tag but I think he is covered on this one (once verified).

I know its not looked favorably by some , but how do these guys acid dip and E-coat bodies and leave tags on Fossil_Fuel ? Theres several cars on here done that way.

Has the build sheet. Can be common , emphasis on "can Be" to remove a tag before media blasting in order to save it. Being a Doraville built car theres not much to fake on the tag anyway. Original build sheet matches everything done. I put an NOS hood and insert on my 67 SS427 convert. It warped from having things stored on top of it for 20+ years. This red car I think had a rust spot on the inside of the hood , he used an NOS hood because he wanted better for the car. Hood insert , theres NO duplicating an "original" hood insert !! You do it because its in the details.

I suppose. Or it could be a car built around a folder full of old paperwork and a cowl tag. I will never know and I don't really care all that much. It just looks fishy to me. I hope he does well with the car and the new owner is happy.

Ive known of this car for 20 years at least , there is NOTHING fishy about it. Cant believe all the skepticism ! This is a well known TRUE Z24 convertible viewed by the best in the hobby.

I can show you guys a totally destroyed red on red 1967 Z24 Cowl Tag and VIN tag that wasn't removed during stripping also.

You know me and Its just "ME" ,I wouldn't remove either the cowl tag or the vin tag for any reason. That's what they make heavy duty tape. Those are areas that are "divine" in my book.But who am I

I am by no means questioning the integrity of this car, I'm just saying the corvette people would go bonkers if it was done on an NCRS car but we are not playing by their rules. As others have said I hope he does well.

. Im not advocating for removing them , just stating that, during restoration , it happens, more than anyone realizes . When details count , to some restorers , its that extra step "they" take in their job. I see no sin in doing so and I guarantee that the owner of this car can support its tags authenticity.

DOES ANY ONE HAVE A PICTURE OF THIS CAR? IT'S NO LONGER ON CRAIGS LIST. iHAVE BEEN LOOKING AT SO MANY 67'S I DON'T REMEMBER WHICH ONE THAT I SAW THAT IT Said it WAS A TRUE 427 AND ON THE TRUNK WAS A SSImpala badge on the trunk lid.
