I have been away from the boards for a few years, have come and lurked around a bit but have refrained from posting.
Those who may remember will recall I had the rusty L72 4-speed convertible '68 project. I had made some serious headway on completion with the help of a lot of people on this board and then a life roadblack got in the way, a protracted divorce saw the car locked away for nearly 4 years.
Fast forward to today, I once again have the car in my possession along with all the parts and tools. I currently am torn between completing the project and just selling what I have and letting a new owner finish things off. The reality of not having my awesome shop to work in and lots of mixed emotions about the car are the only real reasons that make me think of parting with it.
If someone may be interested please let me know, I can be reached at bobthecarguy@hotmail.com
The car is currently a virtually rust-free body sitting on a restored frame, complete ID code #439 427 engine with date correct 840 heads, Winters intake, rebuilt 12 bolt with 3.73 posi, lots of rechromed parts, tons of extra parts. Much elbow grease required but everything other than seat covers and brakes should be there.
Having been through 2, yes 2, nasty divorces (because I'm stupid and make bad decisions with regards to women - I actually trusted them), I can feel your pain. However, I told both of these pieces of excrement that I had my cars before their fat a$$es came along and I'll have them after their fat a$$es hit the road! Think long and hard about getting rid of your car(s). It can be difficult to get into a decent car once you sell the one you have. I've had many friends sell their cars because of a nagging b!tching female and then they can't ever get another one because there always is a house project, vacation, kids braces, or fill-in-the-blank-here-with-lame-excuse from-aforementioned-nagging-b!tching-female...
Bob, am trying to feel your pain, but 2 divorces, really???? My wife says God and the law are on the Xs side get over it, and move on. Of course neither God or the law have ever experience the feeling of a big block Impala. It is impossible for non believers to understand the feeling of a good car. It defies the laws of physics. and you should not be forced to defy nature. Do not lose your passion for a good car for any reason. It is part of your soul. This is being written to make you feel better. Hope it helps. Morley
