NIA Magazine

I received my "Impala News" magazine today (identified as VOLUME 37 NUMBER 3 AND 4 SUMMER/FALL 2018). I will assume that all we NIA members now have a copy, or will have pretty soon.

This issue is a quality printing - as it has been - with heavy paper, good editorial and coverage, and plenty of color; and it IS thicker. But to call this a "Double Issue" is a stretch. I just don't think we are getting our moneys-worth...especially since we waited such a long time for it!

I hesitate in writing this because I don't want to be thought of as a critic, or having a 'sour grapes' image; and I feel I have a good rapport with Don Keefe. But we're supposed to have four (timely) issues a year...the Dayton Convention was last July! The same thing happened in 2017 under Don's watch. There was a summer/fall issue; only three mags for the year. He mentions in his (current) editorial that he intends not to let this happen again...we'll see. 'nuff said.

WOW! All the great input! I don't mean to imply that I initiated all this conversation; but maybe I "triggered" it a little...and wanted to respond.

It's been awhile since I've seen discussion on this forum from Don Keefe, so I was surprised, and delighted, to see him respond. And I, for one, am proud and impressed by we reader's comments - they have been open and respectful of Don and the NIA magazine situation at hand...and likewise, Don's feedback.

Yes, Ron H...I noticed your "1968" on the page 8 right next to a REAL '68

belonging to "William R. Hinkley" (Don: just plain "Bill" is fine). And yes, on page 23, my last name shows a "c" in it; but that's OK...it is more common with the "c"...you know - like the guy who shot President Reagan!?

I "spouted off" enough. I really look forward to the commentary on this forum! And Don K: Your Pontiac magazine...why not "bring it down" some more to quarterly, like the Impala News is intended to be, so that you can concentrate a little more with we Impala people? That's, respectfully, just a thought.

PS-Ron: along with other guys, thank you for your military service (and with the OHP). Your trip in April should be a great event! It was an honor and delight to sit down and chat with you last July. B.

Same to you ,I just wish I could have spent more time with all you guys but I had priorities to meet.Your 68 is a great car by the way.
I know this has nothing to do with cars but:
Just came back from San Diego last week where daughter #2 had their first child, she is married to a Navy Seal and I couldn't be prouder of them. he is teaching at BUDS.
Top Gun is one of my favorite movie's and my son-in-law took me in the bar (on base) where the bar scene was filmed, do I need to say it made my day! Right up there with the Impala Nationals

We have admittedly been behind schedule but as I mentioned in my editorial, we cut our Pontiac magazine down to six issues and the Winter 2019 issue of Impala News is about 2/3 done and it looks really good.

I am not about making excuses. We have had some rough road in the last six months but we made a lot of changes and that is mostly behind us. I don't think that anyone will be complaining about the issue they are receiving now.

Been waiting for the 2018 Convention coverage to come out and now that's it's out I find out my 1967 Impala, page #8 turned out to be a "1968" according to Don's magazine.
How embarrassing is that not knowing the difference between a 67 and 68 in an Impala magazine

Ps Just got news a few weeks back I'm going to be on the next Honor Flight trip to Washington D.C. out of Columbus,Ohio( April 9,2019)
In the scheme of things my 67 being called a 68 really don't mater.

I know the difference- it was a simple typo. It will be corrected in the next issue.

I still really like the club, but agree to what you are saying. I'm hoping for the best.

My personal opinion though, I would rather have 4 good magazines on time rather than 2 great ones late.

Actually, it was three normal-sized issues and one double-size published in 2017 and 2018.

There were three magazines sent for 2018. One had Fred Hartman's '65, one had Nick Stoutamyer's 1959 sedan and this one that just came out counts as 2018. We are working on Winter, 2019 right now and will have it out as soon as possible.
