Just curious.

If it's from IP addresses, those can be misleading. When I had MCI as an internet provider (years ago) it always had me posting from Boston so I would always get Boston-related ads that would pop up. I get A LOT of hits from Council Bluffs, Iowa on my blog. I assume some ISP routes though Council bluffs or I am just a really big deal in Iowa.
