Yes been like that since the Compuserve days but they'd have to do some work to find who someone is via an IP#. And my home one was a dynamic IP until recently. My work one shows all of us with the same IP which just caused a big ruckus on a bike board with someone thinking I had dual ID's. Wasnt me boys! Trust me...he's sitting next to me though.
My concern is more this....there are three guys in my town with my exact name...even the middle initial and we are the same age. One has a FB page with VERY different lifestyle than I have.
I'm betting if you were looking for me via FB his name would come up with mine plus the other guy...so who am I?
I'd like to think if I did sign up using some bogus ID I dont think anyone is going to say..."let me find out who this bogus ID guy is by searching his IP#". But they might say...hey that guy Mr T.M ....I think I know him...lets take a look. Wow he does that???!!! That very thing happened with my company trying to hire a guy...they had the wrong guy. The right guy put nothing wrong on his FB....the other guy did though. Good thing we already knew the right guy and so I quickly corrected our HR women. I never even knew up till that point my company was scanning them not only for new hires...but for anyone who works here.
