A friend of our's daughter was actually offered a full ride scholarship to University of Detroit on a fencing scholarship. Most people don't realize University of Detroit is a smaller private Catholic college that is very expensive to attend, and holds their students accountable as far as their GPA goes, and I don't know anybody who's ever gone to University of Detroit who didn't end up with a real good job. A lot of students come to Detroit to attend U of D for their Law School and Denistry programs.
It just blew my mind when our friend's daughter was offered a full ride on a fencing scholarship.
I recently saw somewhere that the top 2 sports scholarships that don't get filled at major universities are for girl's rowing and girl's golf. If you have a daughter buy her a set of golf clubs, or a row boat!
