I coach at a local high school and see first hand parents believing their kid is going to play college sports and get that big scholarship, D1 baby. Never happens , most D3 schools encourage students to come play, but unless you grades and SAT's are great they usually see little help, so the kid pays $$$. There is far more $$$ in academic scholarships then sports. Both my daughters were D1 athletes, their academic $$$ was better the the sports cash
