Re: Sting sang about "message in a bottle", but 2013 is LIGHTNING...............
a couple random thoughts, on a pretty cool day overall..........I called the #43 driver Arnett, turns out its Anett, car looked great......apparently came across a guard who was angry at his boss, him to me & my buddy.."did you 2 try to cross at the other gate?!?!!" we do Bambi-headlight-on-rye..."uh, no??" o.k., go on ahead, we the basically go up & down pit row, way closer to the cars than we had passes to do so, got to basically rub elbows with Front-Row-Joe, coulda touched the Cat in the Hat when he walked by (thought better of it) got a shot of my friend and that guy....Pastrami?? the X-games guy??........funniest car, some guy with a complicated name, the car was lettered "Chad Hocken-something"..........I see this pretty little thing rockin a streaked-hair thing, "yo, you know the drivers in this class??" (it was Jordana Long, who has a hot little biscuit on her crew, rockin the pig-tail thing very well..........not a whole lot of merchandise available, only found 2 trailers, and really, NO Busch or Arca at either, generic Chicagoland shirts, couple Juniors, Kahn & Stewart, nuthin else.............reason I know we got away with something, when I went back for the Arca qualifying, nobody got up to where we had been 20 minutes earlier............staked out a place on the fencerail-dealie & got Milkas autograph, damn, she is a little bitty thing, even for a chick, and she seemed genuinely taken back by my having an 8x10 of her, real nice, and the whole crummy-english thing just made me wanna bang her even more........get back to our spot (kinda 'tween 3 & 4) my buddy (who kinda was throwing 'em down a little too fast @ this point) points out to the #43 Arca & asks 'why is their Nationwide back out there??" I start explaining that its another Petty car, just Arca, and that the sponser per say is something like 'www.searchforadriver.com ' or something, as if on cue, the thing goes into a big spin right in front of us, I drop my gatoraid, grab my 35 and go into the closest thing my fat-old-only-one-good-knee-ass can get to a run, by the time I get to the chainlink by the frontstretch, I hear the announcer say "well, he got it across the line, so that time will stand" (and he ultimately starts, no discernable damage, so they musta had a short field)........ ..........Busch race was pretty good, got some (hopefully) good work in, but by the time they got Arca going, my friend is starting to not look so good, and the other couple we were there with start trying to formulate an exit strategy, made easier by his realizing that maybe its time to bail, so we "beat traffic" (place was a barn) & head out a couple laps before the end..........hadta look up how it ended (fyi - thing was taking for-EVER, seemed like , 2 laps, bring out the jet, 3 laps, run some grease sweep...) guess the young LaHoie won, Milka, well, finished & didn't wreck the thing, and, surprise-surprise, I thought James Hylton wasn't here, 'cause I THOUGHT his number was one thing, it wasn't, and I KNOW I got shot of the #48 Radon car, (you couldn't here the pa worth diddle, I think the only jumbotron was by the winners circle, and none of us rented a scanner, and the scoring pylon only went by numbers, not names like MIS did) all in all, a pretty cool day, had a lotta fun...........
