The races in Ranier's 15 car got him a lot of notice. At first glance the results don't look like much, but that car was a 40th place car. Ranier had put together some good Cup stuff he had 22 or so wins as an owner. Harry had never run a Nationwide car until Tony came along and had been out of the sport since 1988. So a lot of folks were amazed that Tony could even get the car in the show, and this was at a time when 10 or 11 cars were going home each week. Tony only DNQed twice in eleven attempts. The 7th place starting position with a 16th place finish a Bristol was fairly impressive even if he was three laps off the pace. He should have been 10 or 15 laps down. He got a lot more notice for his work in that car later in the year because he also sat on the pole for the Indy 500 that year in his first attempt. Everyone was watching at Dover because here was the guy from the Indy 500 pole who lead like 40 laps in that race trying to qualify this junk 15 car. He got it in the show a miracle in its self and finished 17 three laps down, but for a guy in his 4th ever stock car race a great showing.
