got jobbed, but doesn't stuff like what Vickers did happen all the time? How often do we see a team member pull over to let another team member lead a lap for the points. Isn't this manipulating the point system? Just because a team member pulls over and lets another team member lead a lap the second race of the season doesn't mean they're still not manipulating the point system. Look at the year Carl Edwards and Tony Stewart tied for the championship. If just one race in the Chase one of Carl Edwards' teammate's lets him lead a lap Carl wins the championship. Here's another example. NASCAR now owns the Rolex Grand Am Sports Car Series. In Sunday's race at Laguna Seca Chip Ganassi ran an extra Daytona Prototype car with drivers Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti. With a few laps left in the race this car was second place, but Ganassi's regular Daytona Prototype car with drivers Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas who's just a few points out of the championship was in third place. When it came clear the car driven by Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti wasn't going to be able to pass the lead car for the win the call came for the car in 2nd to let the car in 3rd pass so that car could score maximum championship points. If NASCAR wants to stay consistent shouldn't both of Chip Ganassi's teams in that race be docked points including the car a few points out of the championship lead. How is this not manipulating the points race? With all that being said, and Brian Vickers just running a part time schedule this year all that should of been worked out before the race. It's ridiculous that they were so blatant over the radio. Now Mikey has to write a $300,000.00 check. |
