FOX is now showing a lot of the motorsports that would of been on SPEED TV not on FOX Sports 1, but FOX Sports 2 formerly known as FUEL TV. The last ARCA race from Iowa was on FOX Sports 2, and I see the season finale Rolex Grand AM Sports Car Series race from Lime Rock will be on FOX Sports 2, so I called my cable provider, and they said they don't even offer FOX Sports 2 in my area, so even if I wanted to pay for it I can't get it.
I subscirbe to I think is called premium basic, and I get NBC Sports and FOX Sports 1 with that, but they offered another sports group of channels for $4.95 a month which included a channel called TVG which is basically live horse racing from around the world, and you can go to their web site TVG.com, and bet on the races as they happen just like a sports lounge in Vegas. When I first got TVG I thought I'd eventually go to their web site, and start betting the ponies, but I've held off so far. I grew up within a few blocks of a horse track in the Detroit suburbs and my dad could call his bets into his bookie, and we could sit on the porch and hear the races called over the PA system, and if the wind was blowing in the right direction you could smell the horse crap from the stables from our house.
Part of thatr $4.95 sports package was a station called MavTV which is owned by the founder of Lucas Oil, Forrest Lucas, and they show a lot of motorsports on MavTV they don't show on other channels like USAC sprint car races. Reminds me of ESPN's old Thursday Night Thunder that Dave Despain hosted. Like you said that $4.95 sports package also has dozens of channels I'll never watch, but for $4.95 a month I enjoy watching the live horse races when nothing else is on, and I enjoy the MavTV channel. Also got a lot of hunting and fishing channels in that package. I enjoy the fishing shows.
Do have the REELZ channel. You're going to think this corny, but back in the 1990s I didn't watch any of the Steven Seagal or Jean Claude Van Damme movies when they were coming out because I thought they were bad, and they're still bad, but I get a kick out of watching them now, and that REELZ channel seems like they show a ton of their movies. I told my wife I've watched so many Steven Seagal and Jean Claude van Damme movies on REELZ I'm convinced I could now compete in the UFC.
Not to change the subject, but I got a hold of my attorney buddy that lives in Woodbury, and I told him to get a couple tickets to the Michigan/Connecticut football game which is a week from Saturday, and I'd shoot up for the game. He said he would of, but he's going to be out of town that weekend. I'm dying for another one of those Cuban Sandwiches from that deli.
