So what does everybody think of the new "Race Team Alliance" that was announced on Monday? I'm particularly curious to hear the opinions of folks who were following open wheel racing when the similar thing happened in IndyCar since I'm not too knowledgeable about that deal. Other than writers today using it today as a comparison saying that IndyCar still hasn't fully recovered. And of course I'd love to hear CrockerFan's take on it all. It seems to me that like Ed Hinton said, "Fans needn't worry. They won't be hurt by this. They may be helped." NASCAR's power has been complete over the years and they seem to be more interested in signing the next "Official _______ of NASCAR" than in actually growing the sport for the good of the fans and the teams. It's also interesting because I read another article where the writer postulated that this was a warning shot across the bow of NASCAR to keep their hands off American open wheel racing because Ganassi & Penske fear that now with NASCAR controlling stock car and sports car racing in America, that open wheel is their next objective. Not sure if I believe that or not, but who knows. |
