I must concur. The changes NASCAR has made completely turned me off. When I went to the spring Bristol race in April 2005, the place was sold out, you had to get on a waiting list if you ever wanted to get tickets there again, and we left our name at the hotel for the following year because they book so quickly...and that was 90 miles away from the track. Now, you see advertisements for Bristol tickets during the race the week before! That's how bad it is. They can't give them away. First was the Chase. Brian France wanted to make NASCAR like the other sports...have a playoffs so if drivers could just get in, what happened before meant next to nothing and it was a whole new season. But...NASCAR is NOT like other sports! It used to be a brilliant nine-month marathon. Now it's a mess. I've hated the Chace since it started. Now we have the races split up into stages? WTF? So if you finish first when the race ends, you don't necessarily win the race? Ah, it makes so much sense. I'm kind of glad John isn't racing anymore so I don't have to deal with this baloney. I wish William Byron well, but I don't see myself watching at all. |
