Thanks for your support in the early part of our season and thanks to our fishermen neighbors for improving access to the south end of the beach. It’s now easy to get to Crocodile Bar and Cabanas, so come visit!
MUSIC LINEUP
5 p.m.-7 p.m.
Monday–Billy on harmonica and Lynn on guitar make a lovely couple on and off the stage with their acoustic sound.
Tuesday–Chava from Colima rocks the house with his electric guitar. Mostly classic rock, but some music in Spanish as well.
Wednesday–Eduardo from Colima has his opening set for the season on Nov. 29 with plenty of ballads in Spanish and a smooth sound.
Thursday–MIchel’s shoulder has healed and he will come down in a few weeks from Quebec with mostly music in English, but let’s see if we can convince him to sing in French as well.
Friday–Rick croons and Paul is a wizard on the bass. Mateo remains grateful for their soothing sounds over the summer.
Saturday–Christine is a one-woman show with a guitar and voice as sweet as the sunset.
FOOD LINEUP
Our refrigerator nightmare–from three working units of various sizes to one small one–appears to be coming to an end. If you’re coming by for more than margaritas, feel free to call or text Mateo ahead of time if you want to know what will be on the menu any particular day while we get everything fixed.
VOTE FOR MATEO
Any good politician, and even bad ones, will ask for your vote. In this case, Mateo requests an early Christmas present for Crocodile Bar and Cabanas in particular and La Manzanilla in general. Have a seat, because even a young man from South Louisiana can get hot and bothered as you’ll eventually discover.
Crocodile Bar and Cabanas has been blessed with thousands of visitors to both the bar and hotel over the last five years and many folks have made regular return trips to both the hotel and the bar over this time. I thank you for your business! Thanks to you, my daughter Carmen can pay her college expenses at LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Many folks don’t realize it, but the seven hotel rooms next to the bar make up the primary business of Crocodile Bar and Cabanas. The hotel–and some cases the bar–have been blessed with good reviews on the internet, especially the all-important Google Maps. Many hotel guests have discovered the hotel from a simple search on Google or Google Maps. This discovery has been thanks in part to most of the 129 people who decided to leave a review. Mateo always appreciates 5 stars and appreciates even more people who make constructive criticism in person before rushing off to the internet. In our case, with a nice 4.8 overall rating, even receiving 4 stars can move the rating down.
Here comes the steam: One recent bar customer decided, without complaining about anything in person to Mateo, that the establishment only deserves two stars. “Limited menu. Music on Friday. Clean end of beach. Good margaritas. In afternoons has great massages in a quiet location with wind in palm trees and waves breaking on the beach.”
What the $#@$#$##@!!? At least the reviewer gave the sub-category of “location” three stars. Alas, there was no sub-category five-star ranking for “Best use of sarcasm in written form on a 1993-version internet message board”. Nor five stars for “Nicest Southern guy who doesn’t sound like a Hollywood version of a Southerner.” Nor five stars for “Biggest fan of Briitish Columbia who has never been to British Columbia.” Sigh.
Why it occurs to anyone to give a business two out of five stars without even attempting to complain about a problem remains a mystery. Especially if the only written complaint seems to be “limited menu”. Mateo gives a measly one star to the two-star review.
AN EARLY CHRISTMAS PRESENT
What can you do to solve this injustice? March in the streets? Bonfire on the beach? Howl at the full moon? None of that is necessary. Just please give your favorite establishments in La Manzanilla a 5-star rating on Google Maps. If you don’t care for a particular establishment, please don’t rate it. If one of your favorite places is Crocodile Bar and Cabanas, thanks! If not, please rate the other great places in town.
HOW TO RATE ON GOOGLE MAPS
Open Google Maps on either your phone or computer.
Click on an establishment(s) you wish to promote with five stars.
If on a computer, click “write a review.” If on your phone, first click on the last star on the right to give the business a 5-star rating before adding any optional comments.
AND THE WINNER IS…ER, AND THE OSCAR GOES TO…
The best 5-star review of Crocodile Bar and Cabanas, the sixth season, lighting and use of extras in a Mexican Pacific Coast fishing village, will receive two free margaritas or anything of equal value during Chava’s show on Dec. 5. Must be present to win. All sales final. No horses nor dogs were harmed in this production.
