When I went back to the States for the first time in nearly 20 years, I saw a four-wheeled scooter on sale at Walmart, but the airlines wouldn't ship it. I've dreamed about that scooter ever since, because it is so easy to ride and recharge. Yesterday, I saw a two-for-one sale on Walmart Mexico online, so I bought them both--one for Agustin and one for me--after checking reviews and the manufacturer's validity. Because they will arrive by sea from the manufacturer in China, I am hopeful that Aduana will allow them into Mexico. The only modification that might be necessary is padding the seat to accommodate the difference in the two stumps.
A wheelchair might come in handy someday, but it is wider and usually requires use of the rider's arms. With the scooter, Agustin could leave his room and go out in the world, day or night, forward or backward, at the touch of a button, and ride back in on his ramp to easily recharge it with little effort.
I guess I'm requesting that no one make a major investment in buying something else until we determine whether this scooter will meet all his needs.
