"Traditionally the Solstice was observed as a three, or four, day event as the Sun reached its furthest southern point and then appeared to be stationary for 2 or 3 more days before noticeably beginning to move north again. This was a universally observable phenomenon, and celebrated by the various cultural and racial human groups, each in their own unique manner. For most, if not all, societies this was a "serious and sacred " time. Even though experience indicated that the Sun would return north, it was never assumed to be a certainty. Due to the existing universal bias, as to the "sacred "nature of this time, the Roman Christian organization decided to adopt this time as the "official " day celebrated as the "birth of the Son "
And so on this 2nd day of Solstice we send our joy, thoughts and sincere gratitude to our
Blessed SUN in anticipation of Rebirth and return to longer days.
