The sun dips low, a farewell kiss on the day, |
As Earth pirouettes in her cosmic ballet.
We chase the light, but it's ever receding,
In this solar waltz, time is unremittingly speeding.
We spin and we spin, in pursuit of the glow,
Yet, the sun retreats, dancing just beyond the window.
Relentless and unfaltering, on the heavenly stage,
Each sunset marks the turning of another earthly page.
In the endless chase, the sun is always the same,
Yet, as we revolve, we're not in the same frame.
Shorter of breath, a step closer to the final rest,
Such is the truth of this celestial quest.
Our lives are but shadows in the solar run,
Beneath the ceaseless gaze of the incandescent sun.
Each day anew, we're older, chasing the light,
In the grand performance of day into night.
Remember, even as the sun dips into the sea,
It’s a promise of tomorrow, a silent decree.
In the endless race, it's always the sun we find,
Revolution after revolution, the pattern of humankind.
Prompt - write me a short poem about sunset and the earth revolving around the sun. Perhaps a bit similar to the Pink Floyd song that says “And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking,
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older.
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.”
