Could you give more words explaining this event and perhaps what is on the menu? Thanks

Can't say for sure as I have never been to one of those events nor have I heard of anyone playing golf up that way. "Not everything revolves around the foreign visitors" Going by the same search as above one could make the argument that the primary market of Careyes is foreign visitors. If you walk to the end of the Malecon in Barra de Navidad there is a huge monument depicting this event. I guess most people in our area are aware of this, unless of course, you are not into Mexican history.

If I remember correctly the Philippines had been " discovered", as in by Europeans, from the other end. In fact the first person to go around the world was a Philippine member of magellan's crew, who had done so by the time they reached the Philippines, where Magellan died.I also believe that expedition did not cross into the northern hemisphere, but crossed the South Pacific, where they were a month or more without seeing land. However, later the annual silver galleons sailed from Barra to Manila.

I think Monte's point was the use of the word "discovery" associated with the voyage of Miguel Lopez de Legazpi in 1564. The different island kingdoms in the Phillipines had extensive trading relationships with China, Japan, Thailand and other Asian countries centuries before Magellan first "discovered" the Phillipines in 1521. Columbus didn't "discover" the Americas any more than Capt. Cook "discovered" Australia. All these lands were discovered in ancient times by indigenous cultures that well predated the European arrivals.

Did some learning / searching starting with cucurrucucu restaurant Careyes which didn't turn up anything except this Instagram https://www.instagram.com/clubcucurrucucu/reels/ Clicking on the images I discovered that it is more correctly referred to as club cucurrucucu, mostly outdoors, I assume near the polo field? A pop up, which I assume means it is not always open?
