Save the date and get out your dancing shoes! Posted by Peluditos/Ambulance on November 25, 2023, 10:59 am On December 5th at Palapa Joe’s at 6:30 to 9:30, two great musical acts will be performing. Come out for a really good time and support two projects here in our community: Peluditos/SCAR and the community ambulance. This is a wonderful opportunity to greet old friends as they return, and meet some of the new faces. And dance!!! Start the evening with a Latin beat provided by Juanjo Martinez, and wind up the evening with Simon and Mike—two wonderful bands! Purchasing a ticket will help to keep the animals at SCAR healthy, fed, and sterilized, and will provide funds for a sterilization clinic in the spring. You’ll also help to restock the ambulance (yes, it’s coming back soon!) with all fresh supplies. Please help support these projects and come out for a fun-filled evening! We will be selling beer and wine, or you can order hard liquor from Willy. You can also purchase food at PJ’s. Tickets available from Laura at the Lab, from Jeanne, and at tianguis on December 1st, or at the door. Looking forward to seeing everyone! We’ll have a blast! $300p per person

Funny--Lynne and I were just talking about misspelled names. I resent the post that says I missed my error because I'm less intelligent. In fact, sometimes one takes on so much that they don't notice the error, even when proofreading. But that's all beside the point. Can we just limit our posts to the actual event? And, by the way, Simone didn't complain at all about the spelling of her name! Just come on out to this great event and have fun while supporting our pueblo!

Thanks for defending our honor, Jeanne. As most people know, neither of us is stupid, petty, or mean-spirited. Usually, a misspelled name is just a typo to be overlooked. At other times, it is more significant. Just ask any native-born Mexican why s/he hoards a stack of birth certificates. It is because all legal and bureaucratic transactions require presentation of the certificate as proof of identity; the name being used must exactly match the name on the certificate. I apologize for not explaining my reason for correcting the spelling of our beloved bike-fixer's first name. Mea culpa.

I wish to make a comment on my comment ... :0) When I read Simon and Mike, I wondered who they were (honestly, I wondered). A while later, it came to me that the poster may have meant Simone and Mike. I had no intention to chastise, simply to clarify. And, on a different note: Thank you Spencer a) for taking such responsibility for the message board and b) for clarifying that you were not, indeed the MODERATOR! That was a little scary to contemplate.

Having just arrived from Montreal, I just came across your advertisement about the benefit evening on December 5. As in years past, I usually sing and play easy listening music in restaurants. However, your ad particularly interested me when I read the phrase ''Put up your dancing shoes!'' I saw it as an opportunity to ''make a little change'' and play music that ' 'stirs', which I have done all my life in Montreal bars accompanied by my Hammond B-3 organ. It would be fun to play Wilson Picket, James Brown, Chuk Berry, Elton John, Tom Jones, to name just a few... if you have room left in your program for the evening, since I'm at the last minute. Otherwise I will be available (voluntarily of course) for your next occasion which requires music whether indoors or outdoors (Rock, R&B, Funk, Dance, Country, Christmas ''Yes, it's coming ''LOL. My ‘’offer’’ applies to any fundraising campaign for charitable purposes and until the end of April. I have all the necessary equipment.
