My wife and I drive down here most every year mostly to accomodate our dog . Initially in the 90’s we had to go through inspections along the way, each state police , federal inspections , PGR ( looking for drugs ) , and if you wanted to move fast through these you needed to make a reasonable donation to their cause otherwise they would have you pull over to the side and lose time getting to your daily location . As time move on there were fewer and fewer inspections til they reached apoint several years ago that you seldom were delayed or inspected . Last year at the border of Sinaloa we were pulled over by a group of black uniformed men with no patches or any identification who inspected inside and had us empty our pockets and my wifes purse . They were looking for how much money we had and demanded us to reveal where any more money was ……… we had hidden our money well and replied our pocket money was all we had . I was upset with this group and demanded to know who they were . They did not take our money and did not reply until one walked twenty feet away with the group and replied tersely that they were the “ Fiscal Police “ and we not allowed to bring in more than $10,000 USD into Mexico . Does anyone know of this group ?

This is a legitimate federal inspection group. We saw them at several locations while we were driving through Sinaloa last year and didn’t get stopped until the last check point just as we were leaving that state. We were initially under the impression from another couple that drove before us that this could possibly be a cartel, but we were assured by locals that this was a government group. And then we looked it up on Google. It seems only one or two of the group had the logo on their clothing, so it was very deceiving that they were legitimate. They are looking for money, car, insurance, and registration, and. firearms, etc. We found them to be very polite to us and they didn’t even check our registration or my wallet for money. However, they did check through everything in our van.
