Wing Sprint car racing is Dead in ABQ!

I feel real bad for Chuck Jackson, showing up every week to race with 2-3 other cars every show! Last night had just 2 cars, Chuck ended up rolling the car with Minimal damage, but when you can't get more than 4 cars all season? DOA!!!!

Hey Joe,
WHY do you say something like this??
Are YOU part of the solution or part of the problem??

The majority of Fans Love seeing a lot of sprint cars on the track. I hope and pray Chuck is healthy after his tumble and that more race cars in ALL classes sling some more dirt at Motiva Speedway.

Have you been to a race this year James? I have been almost every week, I'd say Im supporting Motiva more than you. And yes I love Sprint cars, when there is a show! 3-4 cars isn't a show, sorry!

I have going to dirt track races since '67, I would have decided a long time ago if I didn't like it. Don't you think? On the other hand, I remember when ABQ had good local racing...

Joe, Motiva wouldn't allow Late Models to have a race or to join the program for a few races because they can't muster more than six cars and six cars is not a race, no attempt has been made by the track to try either, Late model drivers were trying to put this together. Bottom line if a certain promoter (who still has a big NAPA Speedway sign is their front yard curb side of Hwy 47) wasn't backed by a winged sprint driver, I don't think we would be seeing either of them at the track on a regular basis. Funny how that works...

If I had dollar for every time I've heard "just wait til"(fill in the blank).
...I'd be rolling a new stacker trailer&toterhome.
Grass is always greener over the septic tank.
I admire Chuck for his perseverance & determination in trying to get the 305 deal going...he's invested a ton of money & time into it.
Which is more than the armchair quarterbacks posting on here have done to help keep racing alive in Abq.
If the new track in Los Lunas ever comes to fruition...be prepared to see a whole lotta cheesy polyester purple & yellow imca uniforms in the pits.
It's gonna cost a lot of racers a lot of money to convert to imca.
I'd push my car off a cliff before I joined that stupid ass organization.
Fegan ain't easy to deal with...I know that firsthand, but he's trying and Motiva's what we got at the moment, last 3/4 shows the tracks been velcro sticky & hammer down fast . I've had a blast...and from the feedback that I've gotten, the racing been damn good.
I love racing, so I'm gonna continue to support the joynt.
Hopefully people continue to support our local dirt track.
Cuz, it's all we got.
I'd hate see racing die in this town.
Wish all the energy expounded on this message board would go towards helping grow the sport.
Instead of constantly tearing it down...

Mychal, how you associated anything I posted with the Modified classes is beyond me! Frankly if it wasn't for the NMMRA Non-wing sprints and the X-Mods, Motiva would go the way of the Asphalt track!

I agree and disagree, Yes, IMCA sucks; Yes, Fegan is not easy to deal with; Yes, I too will not convert to IMCA to race locally or anywhere for that matter. However I agree with Joe, the wing deal doesn't look like its going to happen, just not any real interest on a consistent basis. Bless Chuck for everything he has done and surely will continue too, but I just don't see any growth here. Likewise Late Models guys were trying to put together a race and were shot down because of "low" car count. To me its a joke, how can you say 2-4 cars is a race but 6-8 isn't? That's the hypocrisy here and that is a problem that will likely keep more drivers away. I truly hope for nothing but the best for ABQ racing, but this is not for me anymore than IMCA is, and that's not a bash to the drivers that drive in either, it is a reflection of those running the system.

Car count for an existing class is always volatile, many one week, just a few the next.
Growing a class is similar in nature.
Knowing that there will only be 6-8 cars and then making a decision whether or not to run them is a calculated business decision.
The only hypocrisy here is that you three do not run a track or business, never have, and continue to act like you should.
And please don't try and tell me about what you think you know because you have not been there and therefore simply cannot.

I think it just shows how hard it is to develop another class. You either get existing racers to switch classes or bring new blood to the sport. Both difficult tasks.

Folks if you want something to work you just bust ass and keep trying. Works for all successful endeavors I just hope the folks who gave signs that they would be running sometime this year make it out soon and that the track sticks with us in the future... PS after a tough start to the year the race track has been dust free tons smoother and real racey, I'll be contacting southern boys to come up for next weekend and the Amarillo car that was here loved it so we may get some from over there next week too.... When we do get 10-15 cars it will be a very entertaining show.

Chuck, Are you trying to do a RaceSaver type class?

Seems like an open-wheel x-mod concept. With X-Mods being the dominant class here week in and week out the RaceSaver concept seems like a great idea.
