Queen's Tea Posted by Yvonne on 5/25/2018, 7:24 am Good morning, folks: My first "social" obstacle after a week of sole sourcing is having afternoon "tea" with a good friend. I am going to navigate this distraction very carefully. Because usually after I am very courageous and strong to avoid the temptation in the moment, when I get home, I fold like an accordion and cheat with eating something I shouldn't. I don't know WHY that happens, but I am acutely aware this time. So, that's going to be the challenge for me, with 92 days left on this Cambridge journey to thinness. I must RESIST!!

I ignored all of the nonsense (sweets) sitting on the 3-tiered serving platter, the cheesecake, the peach cobbler, the chocolate mousse. All of that junk. I purposefully left my dessert on the table uneaten. As we were leaving, my guest said, "Now don't forget your dessert. I had asked that it be put in a carry-out container, so I COULD forget about it and leave it on the table. However, my skinny guest saw that I was passing it up and "reminded" me to take it with me. So, I did and the first chance I got, I threw it in the garbage. Skinny people like to be with fat people because it makes them look good in comparison and consequently feel superior. I have had enough of that psychological warfare and I am on to it now. Why couldn't she just not say anything and let me make the decision about whether to take the cake or not? But, NOOOO!! She wanted me to take the cake and be enchanted enough to EAT IT so I could continue to be FAT!! Well, NOT TODAY!!

I KNOW it's hard but I am trying my best to put my old behavior behind me. I'm not perfect. But, this seems to be working for me now. I hope you and your family have a lovely Memorial Day.

Skinny girls Posted by PamT on 5/26/2018, 11:40 pm, in reply to "Thanks, MaryL" I have no idea why friends who know a person has a problem with food, will take that person out to eat. Would you take your alcoholic friend out to a bar? No! You would avoid that and find alternative entertainments. Sure, it is a normal activity to go out with friends for social eating and drinking and all that, but if one of the friends has a problem with an addictive behavior, I would not take them to a source of their addiction and expect them to have a stress free enjoyable time.

But, I am armed with my Cambridge brain and know that no matter WHAT they throw at me, it will bounce off and I keep moving on with the program.
