I am curious...is the UK Cambridge Diet the same company as the one we have here in the USA? I found a group on Facebook, and even though it is a good place to chat and get support during a weight loss journey, it looks like the diet is somewhat different. They seem to have much more diversity with products, with many types of products available. And they seem have different phases but it looks to be due to the product choices as to what phase one is on.
Originally Cambridge was one world wide company. It was developed and researched in the UK, then brought here to the US for marketing by the Feather family. After several years, the company split in to the USA and the UK Cambridge. The Feathers sold the US company to Dean Distributors, the company that still owns it now. Dr Howard and a few others involved with him took over the UK which covers most other countries with a few exceptions. Because they were a much bigger company, they felt compelled to go off in to a somewhat different program with different products and structure. I converse with UK people quite often who are wanting to get our product. They much prefer it and it is a lot less expensive evidently. We can't sell out of the country unless it is a US military base with an APO address. I do have some UK customers that have friends or family here order and then ship to them. That's expensive so they must REALLY like our stuff! lol
Personally, I prefer the simplicity of our products and program. It is the original formula that was the result of 8 years of clinical research and testing. Also, after a lifetime of dieting with Weight Watchers etc, I really don't want to have to go attend meetings or get weighed or any of that. We did that back in the early days before internet when diet meetings were popular, but most people are not in to that anymore, just like message boards! lol
I’ve been on the UK plan and I much prefer it and I’ll explain why. Each week you visit with a coach and get weighed, body measured. It’s having your own personal coach. The products are in sachets which are easy to take out with you. You can buy just a few packets of each flavour for the week, few oats ( which are different flavors ) soups, bars, shakes. I do miss the personal coach and variety in the foods. However, that doesn’t mean that the USA system doesn’t work because it does. I just lost 7lb this last week. The USA one on average for me is running 170$ a month and the UK one would be around 50 GBP per week, which is well over $200. You’ll get your results Chris. I do love their suppprt groups extremely positive people with very few excuses. Uplifting and encouraging. Goodluck on your journey
Thank you, Emma. I have gotten good results so far on the Cambridge here and plan to stick with the U.S. Cambridge. Just getting back on it after a little over two month fall off of the wagon. In the interim I had found the UK Cambridge Facebook group. I find the people there very nice, upbeat and supportive, too, even though the program and products are different. I was just curious about the UK products and program.
Thanks for the info, Pam! I'll probably still stay in the facebook group, even though it is a UK one. Encouragement is good from others, no matter what. I am in a WW Facebook group, as well, even though I am not following the program at this time. I'm not jazzed about their new freestyle program and if I were to follow the WW program again, I'd do the point plus anyway. Of course, the best thing for me is to stick with Cambridge because it works and I feel great when I'm sole sourcing!
