Day 1-SS Til Christmas Eve, Posted by MaryL on 11/26/2018, 2:19 am Hi all. This is day 1 SS and a great relief after the Thanksgiving Holiday. I will try to check in after work- tonight - that would be at about 1130PM. My personal challenge is to do SS consistently til Christmas Eve. Everyone who is on board with me for SS through the month of December good luck and wish me luck.

There is a posting for one of my work friend's - a work lunch break birthday celebration- Pot Luck Nov. 27th in the break room.Without thinking about it I quickly signed up to bring a pan of brownies and a hot dish. After realizing what I had done I knew I would not be able to eat. I decided to just say "NO". I crossed my name off of the sign up sheet. Now after thinking about that pot luck I am salivating like one of Pavlov's dog thinking about all of that food. Luckily I tucked away something PamT wrote awhile ago. I kept it tucked away to bring out whenever I need a boost. This could be a helpful tool for anyone on SS. It says " What food is worth sacrificing your health? What food is worth sacrificing your happiness? What food is worth shortening your life? What food is worth relinquishing your mobility? What food fixes your problems, or makes you feel loved. or sedates your anxiety, or buries your pain, or takes away your loneliness for more then the time it takes to chew and swallow? We know the answer. There is no food worth any of that. Logically we know food is a necessity to live, but it is not an answer to life." Thanks PamT. Isn't it amazing how much of our social lives involves food? At times, it is hard to not feel left out and alone when SSing, especially this time of year when there is SOOOO MUCH food based celebrating! I see there is one more post in this thread. My fingers are crossed that you made it past 11pm!

I do not need a lecture about diet soda-I know it's not healthy but it is better than eating and if it's a toss up between eating and having the soda- I'll take the diet soda for now.

Enjoy I’m so pleased to have found your thread today, I thought I was alone in this attempt to SS through to Christmas. Thankful for support!

Diet soda is fine and in fact, I am so impressed that you get yourself through your challenging time of day. I was a big time night compulsive eater in my day and it was the hardest of all my bad habits to break. Some people have a glass of wine at the end of the day to unwind. I had a giant bowl of pasta or box of cookies! lol! Seriously, well done. I hope today has been as rewarding for you. p.s. diet soda was the only way my husband was able to stay on his Cambridge program last year when he lost his 35 pounds. He would worry about it being unhealthy, but I would remind him that with his health history, (triple bypass and vascular disease..pre-diabetic) being 35lbs overweight was far more unhealthy!
