After New Orleans and Mardi Gras, I have just not had the focus to adhere to Cambridge. I think of food ALL THE TIME!! I start Cambridge and then break, start again and then break. I am a mess!!
Almost 10 months of being a constant caretaker for my husband may be the reason. I am so weary and fatigued; but deep down, I know I can stay on Cambridge AND take care of my husband who is ever so slowly getting better from his massive and debilitating stroke last June.
I keep starting and then breaking my focus.
Coming back to this Board is a beginning, at least.
Pam's photo has given me motivation and Sonali's new weight also has inspired me. I just need to get my act together and know that I am NOT where I want to be yet. Yes, I have lost a lot of weight. But, I've done that before only to regain it.
I am so nervous now about regaining the weight. My appetite has taken control over me and I am nibbling here and tasting there. What a catastrophe!!
Knowing there are so many folks like me out there, I will keep trying and staying on Cambridge.
There is no mystery about what you are experiencing. Once those carbs get in the picture and start the insulin train down the tracks, hunger hormones and all sorts of chaos ensues. The only way to shut it down is to deprive it of fuel.
My suggestion (and you may think it's crazy) is to add a fat meal to your day. Commit to your 3 Cambridge servings, but add a meal of primarily fat and moderate protein. This should be as simple as an avocado with some olives, or a couple of eggs cooked in butter, or some salmon with some olive oil. Fat will help you get back in to ketosis which will once again get your appetite under control AND help with your head hunger by giving you something to wait for. Fat is satiating and self limiting as is the small amount of protein. Absolutely no grain or sugar or veg other then leafy green if you must. I know this may sound goofy, but basically you want to encourage and support your body to get back in to fat burning mode and not sugars, which is making you hungry. The amount of carbs in your Cambridge will get you there if SSing, but a few days of fat supplementation while carbohydrate deprivation might smooth the way back to SS. Make your meal and then leave the kitchen for the night!
If that is too radical to consider, then up your Cambridge servings to 4 or 5 until you get back in the groove.
Hi Yvonne I am glad your Husband is getting better!i know what you mean I start then I binge eat...I have lost 14 so far started on March 6 the day of Lent..i have been adding on Tuesday and Thursday and meal like chicken ,or fish ,sometimes a steak and a vegetable then next day I start back SS ..I teach Special Ed. in High School so I stay real busy..i saw your picture at Mardi Gras you look amazing!! you can do it again .. Congratulations on your weight loss. I have SO many pounds to lose, it is not funny. But, it all starts with the first pound and staying faithful to Cambridge.
